No Bra Day-October 13, equates to National Breast Cancer AwarenessBy:DiversityHuman 13 Oct 2012 Culture and Tradition 0 Comments
No Bra Day or National No Bra Day is seemingly equated to National Breast Cancer Awareness which happens this month.
According to Wikipedia:
Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM), also referred to in America as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM), is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. The campaign also offers information and support to those affected by breast cancer.
In 2009, the campaign asked women to post the color of their brassieres, and in 2010, the campaign asked women to post where they keep their purses, resulting in status messages such as "I like it on the floor" (Kingston 2010).
It looks like they have chosen an innovative No Bra Day campaign this year to show massive support to the annual event. However, what surprised me is not the No Bra Day campaign but the date itself. It's the 13th of October. Why the 13th?
Some organizations highlight the Cancer Awareness during the third week of October. October 13 isn't the start of the 3rd week.Is anyone of you aware of the reason why October 13 is National No Bra Day?
By the way, if you ask me where did I get this topic? Well, honestly it just so happen that I noticed incoming searches from google about no bra day and when I searched the web, I found few forums and sites which were already discussing this topic.
